摘要: In this paper we describe the synthesis of nanocrystalline boron nitride (BN) with a hollow morphology by the reaction of NH4BF4 and NaNH2 at 500 oC for 24h. Characterized by XRD, FTIR, XPS, TEM, and EDXA spectra, the composition and morphology of the products were confirmed. The possible formation mechanism was also discussed.

摘要: An hBN-Y2O3 composite investment moulding material was developed for investment casting Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) powders plus a few Y2O3 powders were used as the investment mould material to prepare the shell mould with colloidal yttria as binder. The results show that the hBN-Y2O3 composite investment mould can be used to cast Ti-6Al-4V alloy, and has lower cost compared with the traditional yttria based investment mould, because of chemically inert of hexagonal boron nitride and its lower density. Moreover the interfacial reaction between the Ti and hBN-Y2O3 composite shell mould was investigated with measurement of microhardness and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive (EDS).

摘要: This paper reports on two examples of biomedical applications of ceramic nanoparticles. Thanks to their physical and chemical inertia, barium titanate nanoparticles and boron nitride nanotubes have been proved to have an optimal in vitro biocompatibility, even at high concentrations. Barium titanate nanoparticles-doxorubicin composites are successfully internalized by cancer cells, and allow for a considerable enhancement of drug up-take. Conversely, boron nitride nanotubes are explored as “nanotransducers”, thanks to their excellent piezoelectric properties. These two examples encourage further investigations and applications in biology and medicine of ceramic nanomaterials, that exhibit interesting advantages respect to traditional materials.

摘要: Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a very versatile material that is used in a number of applications due to its unique combination of properties. This paper reviews typical h-BN qualities and their applications as functional particle in coatings and as sintered parts. As an example, the EKamold® coating family is presented in detail for a variety of substrate types and applications. Furthermore a general overview is given of the effect of the binder phase for hot-pressed h-BN qualities. And finally the use of h-BN as a composite with a) zirconium oxide for side dams in steel thin-strip casting and b) with titanium diboride as evaporation boats is described in more detail.

摘要: Boron nitride (B1.0N0.9) nanoparticles have been prepared by the spray-pyrolysis of borazine. Characterization of the B1.0N0.9 nanoparticles by SEM, and HRTEM demonstrated that samples form elementary blocks containing slightly agglomerated nanocrystalline particles with sizes ranging from 55 to 120 nm. Their thermal behavior has been investigated and thermogravimetric analyses of B1.0N0.9 nanoparticles showed that they are relatively stable in air atmospheres.

摘要: In this study we report on the preparation and characterization of boron nitride supported noble metal catalysts with potential applications as catalysts for oxidation reactions. The deposition and the dispersion of the active phase were strongly influenced by the preparation process and in particular by the solvent used as the dispersing phase. Techniques such as BET, XRD and TEM were used to study the role played by the phase used as solvent (benzene, glyme, water, THF, diglyme, isopropanol, glycol) in particles size and dispersion of metals deposed on the BN support. Different palladium depositions under various conditions and different noble metal coatings under the same deposition condition are presented. The catalytic performances were tested in methane traces oxidation in excess oxygen and in the presence of water. The light-off temperature (50 % methane conversion) increased in the following order: Ag/BN < Pt/BN < Au/BN < Pd /BN.
